devon spray cork eco friendly

Environmentally friendly in more ways than one

Spray cork does its bit for the environment by insulating buildings and cutting energy demands. But it’s also sourced sustainably, making it eco-friendly from the word ‘go’.

Cork is taken from the bark of cork oak trees without the need for felling. That means no deforestation – and trees actually absorb more carbon dioxide as they regrow their bark.

They tackled a difficult job, in poor weather, which included replacing asbestos soil downpipes, excavation for and replacement of damaged drainage, then making good with concrete and tarmac and leaving the site clean and tidy. I know it took a great deal of care and attention to detail to make such an excellent job and I have not seen better workmanship. The job has taken much longer than we had hoped due to the poor weather this year and difficulties with sourcing the Cork render. These were all matters beyond his control but he did keep us informed all the way through. The job was difficult due to proximity to other properties and Lee was excellent in his efforts to complete the work whilst maintaining good relations with our neighbours. We are really happy with the results.Denise BassettDenise Bassett ★★★★★ Lee came out to look at a problem with our kitchen wall. He told us the problem within minutes!! Spray Cork Devon FAQs

What colours can I choose from with Spray Cork?

Spray cork is available in a vast array of different shades. From neutrals and natural shades to bolder pops of colour, you can transform your Devon home or commercial property as you wish. Contact our team to talk about your requirements.

What type of finish does sprayed cork have?

Sprayed cork has a slightly textured finished. The granulation of the cork creates a faint, stippled look, which adds to its properties.

Is spray cork better for inside or outside when used for insulation?

No matter what you choose to do, sprayed cork will offer enhanced breathability, fire resistance, thermal insulation and acoustic insulation. We recommend internal application to deal with condensation and mould – especially useful for heritage buildings, or in areas where you can’t apply externally. External cork spray has the added benefit of protecting your property from the elements and improving its kerb appeal.

How is spray cork applied?

Cork is sprayed using a spray machine or gravity-fed hopper gun. It requires two coats for a thickness of 3-4mm. Internally, it can them be skimmed or plastered on top.

Can it be applied over existing renders?

Yes! Sprayed cork adheres to other renders and substrates. If you have existing sand or cement render which has been painted, or has settlement cracks (hairline or settlement), you will be able to spray directly onto the render so long as the substrate is solid. That said, it will not hold together blown or shot render.
