cornwall spray cork eco friendly

Eco-friendly and sustainable

Sprayed cork is obviously great for the environment because it insulates buildings. That means less energy use and a lower carbon footprint for Cornish properties. However, it’s also eco-friendly in the way it’s sourced.

Cork is harvested from the bark of cork oak trees, without the need for felling. More oxygen is released as the bark naturally grows back, reducing carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.

The longevity of sprayed cork also prevents unnecessary waste, reducing the impact on landfills. Additionally, there are no harmful chemicals being emitted when it does need to be disposed of.

Spray Cork Cornwall FAQs

What is the texture of spray cork’s finish?

Sprayed cork has a textured finish. The surface will be slightly stippled, with the granulation of the cork contributing to its excellent performance.

How do you apply cork spray?

Sprayed cork can be applied using either a gravity-fed hopper gun, or a spray machine. To achieve a thickness of 3-4mm, we apply two coats. It can then be skimmed or plastered internally if required.

Can cork spray be applied over my existing render?

Yes! Sprayed cork can be applied over many existing substrates and renders. However, it’s important to note that sprayed cork won’t hold together damaged or deteriorating render. If you have sand and cement render that is painted and has hairline or settlement cracks, we can apply spray cork directly, provided the substrate is solid.

Is sprayed cork better used as an insulator on the inside or outside of my house?

We recommend internal application if you are battling mould or condensation. This is particularly helpful for heritage buildings, or in areas where you can’t apply externally. As for external applications, sprayed cork offers protection from unpredictable weather conditions – as well as enhancing the look of your property. Whatever your preference, you’ll benefit from the same breathability, thermal insulation, acoustic insulation and fire resistance.

How many colours of sprayed cork do you offer?

Spray cork is available in a range of colours. From neutral shades to brighter, bolder tones, we can make your Cornwall home look just the way you want it. To discuss your preferences, contact our team today.
